  1. Strange, but the headline made me think of those off-hour TV preachers who were healing by the "power of God". She can see again, he can walk again! lol
  2. Still a bit early yet, but they should be trying to sell us on whatever summer blockbusters they have planned soon. Can't say I've heard of much that sounds interesting at this point, but lately I've been spending more time catching up on tv series rather than movies.
  3. Well I wouldn't exactly call S4E2 slow. But I do agree the first episode seemed a bit slower than usual. There's typically a lot of content shoved into the 1hr block. Still one of the better shows on television.
  4. Seems it did get worse. If the news I'm reading now is correct, Ukraine is playing a dangerous game. Seems like they've hired Blackwater mercenaries (now Greystone Ltd.) for security and targeted operations. Interestingly enough, if you look over what has happened so far, everything has occurred with only moderate violence, especially with the military of Russia and Ukraine involved. But bringing in Blackwater may be a dangerous move. Those guys are fucking ruthless, their record for killing civilians in Iraq is still on trial in court. They're probably more likely to start a war than help anything. It appears the instability in the area and violence at this point only stands to increase further.
  5. Shorts/short sleeves in the warmer months and sweatshirts and jeans in the winter. Would prefer more consistent weather as it would be easier to maintain an all-year wardrobe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Only a matter of time before this explodes. But I do think the international community needs to stay out of it. It's for Ukraine to sort out. The only other player that should be involved is Russia because of the number of ethnic Russians that may be at risk. I hear input coming from the US and other countries and they really need to stay out of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I can't believe I still haven't seen Desolation of Smaug yet. Still hoping to see a half frame rate (or should I say, standard) version, as I found the first movie much better that way. Filming a movie like that in 48fps bothered me, and don't wish to repeat that. It kinda ruins the movie for me. Most recent for me was the newest remake of Carrie. Okay movie, but I found the pacing a bit slow for my taste. 3/5 Prior, I also viewed Riddick. For a movie that is supposedly in series, the naming sucks. Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick, Riddick. Have long been a fan of these since the first released back around 2000. Hearing that there are plans to finish this up with 2 more movies, making it a series of 5 sounds great. I look forward to seeing what direction they take them. As for this one, Riddick, I didn't find it the best of the series so far, but still quite enjoyed it. 4/5
  8. ... I'm glad that you found us. Sad though that we're somehow buried so deep in search results.
  9. Just checked the link for spam. Not the case here, but hey, these things happen. I'd welcome anyone interested to take a quick survey. Never hurts when the goal is more games. I will openly discuss one question in the survey here just for the sake of games discussion. I will answer this the way I answer any developer. I pay for a game one time. Not per play. That kind of thing ended when I stopped feeding quarters to arcade machines a couple of decades ago. Free to play, and nickle-and-dime content? I'll pass. Sell me half a game and lots of "downloadable content"? Pass. I buy a game one time, and judge it and recommend it or not based on the merits of what is sold to me.
  10. So far Q4 is looking to be a pretty uneventful time as far as developments go. Right now, things are running pretty smoothly, so I can't find much reason to change things when all is working well. That's not to say nothing will be done however, as minor tweaks as the months progress is something that is always happening. A major new overhaul is planned for next year thanks to a major software version update that will take place around that time and I hope to be able to provide some information leading up to the changes. Pursuant to this announcement, staff and Premium members will find that the old skin Classic has been updated and once again made available for use. While I didn't originally intend on bringing it back, our recent increase in Premium memberships was encouragement to return it as a perk for those who are supporting the site. Here's a preview in case anyone forgets the Classic skin or never seen it in its original form.
  11. Just wanted to say Thank You to the following members whose donations in October have paid for our hosting in November: jeremy, LFCNORBRANCH, nerazzuri, denisiwamura, craigw22 Thanks so much everyone! It's this support that helps keep us going.
  12. I would think so too, unless Sony starts building units in the country. Kind of a strange policy with all of those taxes. Although video games are the focus, I imagine there are a large number of items that are made elsewhere and imported to Brazil at a very high cost to its citizens. As usual with taxes, it probably has very little benefit to anyone but the government. Still, for gamers it appears to be an unfortunate situation that probably limits the amount of content they can enjoy. I wonder what the percentage of console to PC gamers is there, as I doubt Steam is under such pricing restrictions and I'm sure PC components must be cheaper overall.
  13. There was some discussion that Microsoft is making units for the area in Brazil thus avoiding the import tax issue. No idea how much truth there is there but I have no idea of Microsoft's production capabilities.
  14. Yep, that's the point Sony is trying to make. That is what I was saying about them being a protectionist economy. They tax the hell out of stuff that is imported. If the system was made in Brazil though, most of the taxes would no longer apply.
  15. Protectionist economies. That is what it comes down to. High import taxes, see the chart Sony made.
  16. It's strange how much the price differs between markets. Here in the US, Sony could be taking quite a loss at $400. I haven't looked at any of the part cost analysis pages, so I'm not sure what their profit/loss might be on launch. But after the $600 PS3 launch and subsequent terrible sales numbers that gave Microsoft the lead in console sales I don't think they want to repeat that mistake.
  17. Great promotional for the new Carrie coming soon.
  18. Sure, actually sounds like a good discussion. Probably best suited for the General talk board unless it is more specific like "Best Manchester United streams", etc.
  19. But it looks like - so far - no one is posting links to live streams (as opposed to downloads of the completed match video)... is that just because the site is relatively new ? I don't think that's the case. It's just something that never seemed to take off for whatever reason. Some of the cappers providing downloads do have revenue in mind, so I know why they stick to downloads. People come looking for those downloads too. Shortly after a match ends, traffic spikes. The bigger the game the bigger the spike. I've never seen anyone post a stream or request one before. I figure they either aren't as interested or already know where to look.
  20. I don't see why not. As of this posting, it appears there is still no legal issues with the viewing of a stream. So go for it.
  21. http://shouts.tv/Rf As the country sinks just a little bit lower...
  22. Feel free to correct me, but I think that TES Online exactly is an action-rpg, very similar to Skyrim where you can even change to first person view, while Diablo 3 still is more classic, isometric-style RPG with click-em'-to-death system Could be, carrying the Elder Scrolls name I really didn't look into it much. I won't pay a monthly fee to play a game online though, so it's a non-starter for me. I reluctantly pay for Xbox live a couple months at a time to take advantage of some sales and to occasionally play a new Halo or Battlefield game for those couple of months. But other than those couple of games I usually prefer a single player offline game anyway.
  23. I think I would be lost on that one. I've never played any of the Elder Scrolls games. I'm guessing this is shaping up to be another MMORPG, which is something I've never played. Expensive, huge time wasters if you ever want to get anywhere. I also prefer my RPG's to be action RPG, such as Diablo 3.
  24. That's about 6 more and 2 more controllers than will probably ever be used, respectively. I have a pretty good size library of games for the current generation. Yet the other day I was headed to a friends and wanted to grab something a few of us could sit back on the couch and play. After digging through 50+ titles, I turned up all of 3 that supported more than 2 players. Plenty of games support at least a co-op mode, but the number of true multiplayer titles that could be played with a few friends offline diminished greatly this generation. The reliance on online play is expected, as that is where most people play these days. Yet there are times when we actually want to see our friends in person and have a gaming session. That idea was sort of lost on developers this gen it seems. The only bright spot has been arcade titles. There have been quite a few in this area that supported multiple player offline games. Downside there of course meant having to recover a gamertag to their console and download the game there before being able to play. It would be nice if this trend reversed in the next gen, but I don't see it. We used to all huddle around a small tv back in the day to play 4 people on a screen. Now tv's are huge, consoles are more powerful, and we can't somehow get 4 people parts of a 50 inch tv to play on?
  25. Interesting update. I wondering how the revised specs compare performance wise to what the PS4 will offer.
