  1. Pretty long, like 2 and a half hours. That's mainly because it really fleshes out scenes that the book only touches upon and involves several subplots that are not central to the main story (but in a good way, if you get me).

Intresting so I'd imagine the extended version should be a solid 3 hours when it finally comes out.

It's been a while since I last read the book, probably read it again then go watch it.

  2. I have no idea what the difference is, sorry.

I was actually surprised at the lack of kids, the place was full and I was probably one of the youngest there (for reference; I'm 19).

EDIT: I Googled it, HFR 3D is shot in higher than 24fps, so I saw it in HFR 3D.

Nice one mate....how long was it btw?

  3. Yeah mate, at Imax in Manchester, it was quality in 3D (filmed at 48fps). The extended edition won't be out for quite a while; I'd recommend going to see it.

In my local they're showing it in 3D and HFR 3D....do you know the difference mate?

I was going to go see it tbh but it's the school holidays now, don't want to be in a cinema surrounded by a bunch of kids

I'll probably go watch it after Christmas.

  4. Yes I agree, as you said it lacked character building. That's really the main point of the film. I believe that the purpose of this film is to show the everyday life of an police officer in LA, like a documentary. And I believe they showed it really good. I heard that Jake Gyllenhall spent much time with real police officers in order to perform on top.

Gyllenhall is a great actor, he'd naturally research the role he's playing to the best of his ability. Just feel the movie lacked some twists and turns that we've become expected to seeing from this genre like Traning Day for example. Still a great movie that I'd recommend anyone to see.

  5. I saw that movie several weeks ago and that's one of the best movies I have seen so far. So great acting. Brilliant.

Yeah I liked the way the movie was filmed through various different prespectives. However the story was predictable and lacked any sort of depth and character building but still a great movie.

  6. They are supposedly including more back story from Tolkiens texts on Middle Earth to do so. I'm a big enough geek that I will see all of the films regardless of how many were made. And I'll probably own the extended cut Blu-ray for all of them just as I do the original LOTR.

It seemed to me that they wanted to milk this for all it's worth. Originally it was planned for 2 parts then whilst they finished filming they decided to make it a 3 part movie. I'm a big Tolkien fan, I've read all the books more than once and I'd be more than happy if they filled the movies out with the lore of Middle-Earth just don't see too much stuff that they could include that's relavant to The Hobbit but time will tell.

Trailer for the new Guillermo Del Torro movie 'Pacific Rim'. Looks awesome.

  7. I like the fact that you can play as different characters in this instalment without having to pay extra money for an expansion like it was the case for GTAIV. I have high expectations for this game hope it delivers.

  8. Oh if only I had time for the books. But with work, video games, and other tv shows, 1000+ page books are a bit much right now.

You're missing out mate. There is only so much they can portray with the budget they have. Even though the TV adaptation is good it's nowhere near as satisfying and rich as the books.

  9. Anyone going to watch 'The Hobbit' when it comes out? I've read the book when I was younger and if the movie's anything like the book it should be good.
