5 Things To Expect From Arsenal Against Marseille
Marseille will be traveling to the Emirates Stadium this week to face an in-form Arsenal team and with the Gunners coming off the back of a 3-5 away win against Chelsea (one of the best results in the clubs recent history and their 7th win in the past 8 games), here's 5 things we can expect from the North Londoners:
1. Robin Van Persie will score
"Robin is an exceptional player who takes advantage of that fact that we have an attacking team that works hard for him... he is a perfect captain not just because he scores goals but because he behaves himself on and off the field."
Arsenal will undoubtedly looking towards their 'flying Dutchman' when they come up against the French opposition and who can blame them, with the Arsenal Captain scoring an amazing 28 goals in the past 27 games for the club (that's over 50% of Arsenal's goals in 2011, so you wouldn't bet against him scoring again.
2. Arsenal Will Concede (again)
What's that? The sound of an Arsenal clean sheet? Well not it's not, as the Gunners have only managed to keep 5 clean sheets from the 17 games they've played this season.
Although they managed to come out on top at Stamford Bridge, many were quick to point out for all their good qualities going forward (which coincidentally is the clubs new slogan for their '125 years of Arsenal' logo), there still remains quite a few rather large problems out back, so don't expect anything too cleanish about this sheet.
3. Arsenal won't loose
The Invincible era at Arsenal seems like a very, very (very) distant memory for most Arsenal fans but as things stand, Arsenal are undefeated in the Champions League! Every other team in the group has at least one defeat to their name but not the mighty Gunners! Is this a sign of the rebirth of the Invincibles? No? Well, I didn't think so either...
4. Andre Santos will play at left back but ever so quietly move into the left wing position.
The Brazilian National Team isn't exactly renown for it's defending but it's why Arsenal left back André Santos gets a jersey with the Samba Boys.
As shown against Chelsea, Santos isn't known for his defending prowess either but is a force to be reckoned with when going forward, having already scored 2 goals from the 5 games he's started for Arsenal.
5. Per Mertesacker will remain tall
Let's be honest, he's huge.
