Welcome To Soccershouts

Welcome to SoccerShouts!

I know this is a surprise for most members, however the planning stage for this move has been ongoing within the staff forums since around January. I know many of you will miss SoccerPulse, but this is a move we felt was necessary to grow and enhance the community in ways that were just not possible while at SoccerPulse.

So what happened to SoccerPulse?
I know this is going to be the most common question we hear for the next few months. Here’s the story, starting with the closure of SP in 2009. At that time, Chris was unable to keep up with the excessive monthly bills that had overtaken revenue and it was decided to close the site down. A couple of months later, in December 2009, the site had been sold to new owners and the site was restarted.

At first, everyone was happy to see the site return and I had personally hoped to see the site return to the level of popularity we once enjoyed. However, this was not to be the case. Within one year, the new owners had abandoned ship. Since December 2010, SoccerPulse has remained untouched by the owners.

As the remaining person with any sort of access I tried to keep SoccerPulse running. The issue is that I was never given access beyond the forum. That means I couldn’t log into the server directly. Without that ability, I haven’t been able to update the forum software, or fix bugs the owners were informed about but never fixed. The forum could continue to grow with these bugs. But that was it; there was no hope to expand the site or do anything with it. All we could do is continue with what we had and hope the owners continued to pay for hosting and not abandon the project altogether.

Fast forward to today as we announce SoccerShouts. SoccerShouts goal is to become the site I wanted to see for SoccerPulse, but didn’t have the means to achieve. We now have the opportunity to see real growth, to have a bug-free site, and to have an actual site along with the forum. Here, I control the future of the site. I’ve been with SoccerPulse since day one. That is nine years of my time invested into the site. I am very sad to leave behind the SoccerPulse brand, but this is the only way to move forward.

What about my account? Are we losing anything in this move?
Good news. In moving from SoccerPulse to SoccerShouts, all member accounts, topics, posts, even personal messages between users are being retained. To pick up where you left off, all you have to do is sign in using your SoccerPulse login credentials. Some things that were uploaded such as pictures and avatars will need to be set again.

Exception: The database backup was made in the early hours of April 6. Most posts made during Apr. 6 and member registration from this day are lost. I'm sorry about that, but it was the cost of keeping SoccerPulse live while at the same time moving everything to a new domain.

What will become of SoccerPulse?
Nothing. As the move to SoccerShouts is complete, all support for SoccerPulse has ceased. An announcement will be left on the SP forum to direct all members to the new site, and all forums will be converted to redirects to point to the new site. As all content was transferred to SoccerShouts, there is no need to retain any of this information on the original site. Registrations there will be closed, and no new posts will be possible.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to read this rather long introduction, and hope you will all stick around to support SoccerShouts with all the enthusiasm you displayed for SoccerPulse. If you have any questions or comments about the move, you can post your thoughts in this thread or contact me directly. I will be happy to answer all inquiries about the move.
